Argerich and Pires in Warsaw

Pires and Argerich performing Mozart in Warsaw
On 31 August, at the Grand Theater of the National Opera House in Warsaw, Argerich gave her first-ever public performance on a fortepiano, playing the second and third movements of the Beethoven concerto No. 2, with Frans Brüggens' Orchestra of the 18th Century.

The announcement of her appearance - which seems to have been quite a spontaneous decision - was met with great enthusiasm, and she shared the stage with Maria João Pires, who played the first movement of the Beethoven concerto. And as an encore, the two dames performed Mozart's sonata for 4 hands in D major, KV 381.
