A faithful visitor to the Verbier Festival, Argerich will perform two concerts at the alpine festival in Switzerland, in repertoire familiar and not-yet-so-familiar.
The first concert on 28 July will feature Chopin's first piano concerto, with the Moscow Soloists, and in the second on 30 July she will be joined by Mischa Maisky in Rodion Shchedrin's Double Concerto 'Romantic Offerings', with the Verbier Festival Orchestra under Neeme Järvi.
UPDATE: ARGERICH HAS WITHDRAWN FROM THE PERFORMANCE ON 28 JULY. KHATIA BUNIATISHVILI WILL PERFORM THE SCHEDULED CHOPIN PIANO CONCERTO NO. 1. ARGERICH'S APPEARANCE ON 30 JULY FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SHCHEDRIN DOUBLE CONCERTO IS STILL EXPECTED TO TAKE PLACE
But before she goes to the mountains, Argerich will perform with Lilya Zilberstein at the Klavierfestival Ruhr in Germany on 12 July.

Where do you take your information from, Pyr? I've been trying to find some concerts, but I was unable to, except of a few ones... It's so sad, that it's so difficult to get to Verbier...
ReplyDeleteIt's not only difficult to get to Verbier, it's as expensive as can be. Coming from the USA, I thought Aspen, Colorado was expensive, but Verbier... Nevertheless, I'll be at the entire festival as a volunteer and as such, you get free tickets for some concerts, and depending on your volunteer position, a lot more.
ReplyDeletehey there that's an interesting thing to consider. Could you tell me how you went about volunteering please? I live in LA and Martha has cancelled on me a few times ( I try not to take it personally) and Verbier sounds pricey but volunteering would certainly be a possibility!
DeleteThanks!
