Martha Argerich starts the month of July with an Argentinian-flavoured appearance at London's York Place, where she will team up with pianist Alberto Portugheis and his friends.
Additionally, she is also scheduled to play at the Verbier and Salzburg festivals this summer. While she will play two chamber music concerts at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Verbier concert in July will be her only appearance at the Swiss festival this year. She will be partnered by the young French trumpeter, David Guerrier, in Shostakovich's first piano concerto, and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra under Gábor Takács-Nagy, with whom she made a memorable collaboration in the last edition of the Verbier Festival.
An event in Ramatuelle, France, organised by French critic and writer Olivier Bellamy, also sees Argerich's participation on 21 July. Although a detailed programme hasn't yet been published, she will be partnered by pianist Michel Legrand, harpist Catherine Michel and violinist Geza Hosszu-Legocky.
There are also at least 3 other performances in August. Argerich will be part of the Russian National Orchestra's 20th anniversary tour, with their Music Director, Mikhail Pletnev. She will play the Schumann concerto. More detailed information will follow.
[per RNO website, Argerich's name is no longer listed for the concerts on 19 and 21 August, and is only scheduled to play one concert in Liechtenstein. But her participation there is also not 100% guaranteed]

It looks like Argerich will not now be taking part in the Russian National Orchestra tour. Lugansky will play instead (see http://www.russianarts.org/rno/ontour.cfm).
ReplyDeleteIt's not on the Festival site yet, but it seems Argerich will play at La Roque d'Anthéron on 7 August.
ReplyDeleteThanks Quinten! Do you know the exact programme?
